A couple of weeks ago, I had a very unusual experience involving an enormous floating fish. No there was nothing funny in my morning coffee, I had simply found myself mesmerised by an ‘Air Swimmer’ brought in as a sample for a coming-soon product. By gently flapping it’s fins, the fish floats peacefully around the room. It’s so joyfully ridiculous that everyone just stands around grinning at it. Look how happy I am!

I think the thing that makes the fish strangely beautiful is how realistically it moves through the air as if it were in water. A belly-full of helium allows it to defy gravity. Then the remote control makes it flap it’s fins and controls a small weight on it’s underside which makes it dip down or float upwards. It’s just for indoors as a big gust of wind would be enough to send your fishy friend flying. I’m told there’s also an Air Swimmer shark, sounds terrifying!
