We’ve had three new additions to team Gadget this week as our brand new desktop aquarium has come into stock and I’ve managed to pilfer one to keep on my desk. My three colourful plastic fishy friends spend their time bobbing merrily up and down and swimming in and out of the steady stream of water from the filter.

The flow of water is quite relaxing but since they’re not real fish, it’s handy to be able to turn it off if you need to. It’s somewhat extravagant as a desk tidy so it’s definitely for the roomier desk but then it also holds a great many pens and looks like it will even handle your stapler if you so desire. Now that’s a tidy desk!

The fish feature distinctly 90′s patterning which I’m pleased with as I’ve now named them Zack, Kelly and Screech after characters from Saved By the Bell. They call me Mr Belding and I regularly have to poke my head into the tank and say, “Hey hey hey hey! What is going on here?”

It’s in many ways a decorative item but by far the most useful aspect of this particular Gadget is the electronic calendar. I’m the sort of person who never knows what the date is off the top of my head and it’s great to be able to glance over and know it’s Friday. If only it said Friday more often, that would be perfect.
