Like it! Review and competition: Disco Mug and Diva Washing-up Brush

 Gadgets Like It!

Hello again gadgeteers. I’m back from me ‘olidays, thanks to Mandy and Murray for filling in on the competition for a couple of weeks. It’s Friday again and it’s time to announce the winner of this week’s Like It! competition. Congratulations goes to Andy Craig who will get to choose one of our mini Music Monsters as an early Christmas present. And that also means that it’s time to give away some more cool stuff!

This week we have a seriously funky double disco prize to give away. Not only will you be sipping tea like it’s the seventies from our totally copacetic disco ball mug, but when you come to wash up, you can also get down with our disco diva washing up brush. Ahh yeaahh. We’re giving you the chance to win them both. All you have to do is put on a pair of flares and demonstrate that you can headspin for more than 30 seconds. Or alternatively just head over to our Facebook competition page and enter your details for the chance to win! (Needless to say, please don’t really attempt a 30 second headspin.)

Disco MugDiva Sponge

Styled as a disco ball, the mug provides a generously sized cup of tea for that one night of the week when you aren’t out blaming it on the boogie. The disco diva herself sports a super-absorbant afro which is just right for getting in the nooks and crannies of the washing up.

Disco is starting to see a little bit of a resurgence recently with current focus on masters of falsetto The Beegees as the nation decides their favourite Beegees song of all time for an ITV programme later in December. We’re going with ‘You should be dancing’ as our vote. Let us know what you’d pick while you’re over on our Facebook page entering the competition.

Like it! Review and competition: Music Monsters

Gadgets Like It!

Hello! Sam’s holiday is coming to an end, but since he’s still not back it’s my turn to encourage you all to Like It! It’s Friday again and the weekend is drawing near. Last week we gave you the chance to win some amazingly appropriate Facebook style Like Tea and Coffee Mugs and we’re pleased to tag F Drinkwell as the winner. Congratulations!

Once again, we’ve got a super cool gadget to give away and this week we’ve got something that sounds better than it looks. And we mean that in a good way! Take a look at the competition page.

Music Monsters

These seriously cool little critters arrived a few weeks back and a little green one with a big mouth ended up on my desk. Obviously they’re pretty cool looking little dudes but being a bit of a sound quality afficianado (a fussy twit) I expected very little from a speaker of that size.

I was however, pleasantly surprised when from the music monster’s tiny gob came more than enough volume and an excellent clarity of sound. Clearly as they’re only little, they won’t provide the bass response of your home stereo, but they also don’t distort and buzz like a regular travel speaker. This means you can actually listen to your tunes and understand what they’re singing. Well unless you’re listening to thrash metal, in which case no-one understands what they’re singing. Not even the singers.

If you’re interested in listening to some music while you’re on the go, these Music Monsters would be great to take on holiday, to the park or beach and they look snazzy too. If you’d like to win one of these little guys, just like us on Facebook and enter your details on the competition page for the chance to win. The winner even gets to choose from Big Mouth, Skully, Caveman or Kung Fu.

Like it! Review and competition: Like Tea and Coffee mugs

Friday, November 25th, 2011

Gadgets Like It!

Is it Friday again? That must mean that someone has won the Annoying Monster up for grabs last week. A big congratulations to L Passiful. Your Monster will be in the post shortly.

Which brings us on to this week’s Like It competition. We’re feeling pretty pleased with ourselves as we think we’ve found the ultimate prize for any Facebook based competition. Feast your peepers on these ‘Like’ Tea and Coffee mugs and then win one over on our competition page.

Like Tea and Coffee Mugs

These are a must-have for Facebook addicts. I’m personally now at the point where I find myself wishing I had a Like button for real life. It’s just such a good way of expressing agreement or appreciation and now like all good things, it’s on the side of a mug.

Now if someone is trying to mouth ‘tea or coffee?’at me while I’m on the phone, I can just raise my mug. This tells them three things. 1. Agreement (yes I’d like a drink) 2. Beverage preference (well the mug does say ‘coffee’ on it) 3. Expression of appreciation, just like on Facebook when you ‘like’ a video that someone has shared with the world. Brilliant.

There also couldn’t be a more appropriate way to win one of these mugs. Just like us on Facebook and enter your details on the competition page for the chance to win.

Like it! Review and Competition: Annoying Monster

Friday, November 18th, 2011

Hey everyone, Sam is off for the next couple of weeks. He’s been very organised and left me the Like it competition to post for him in his absence. Here is this weeks:

Gadgets Like It!

Hello Gadget heads. A very happy Friday to you, especially to this week’s winner of our Like It! competition; Kate Huxstep. Your amazing Floating Bottle rope Illusion will magically arrive (by post) shortly.

So that must mean that we’ve got another gadget to give away. Well Christmas is coming and all the little girls and boys who have behaved themselves this year have been filling two sides of A4 with things they hope to find under the tree on Christmas morning. We thought maybe we could help fill a little tree-space by giving away one of our cuddly Annoying Monsters.

Annoying Monster

These cheeky, colourful monsters are all set to be a popular kid’s toy this Christmas. They giggle, scream, make rude noises and jump up and down so clearly kids get along with them just fine. If you know a little monster that would love to unwrap this on Christmas morning, simply like us on Facebook and enter your details on the competition page for the chance to win.

One of our Annoying Monsters lives in the office here at Gadget HQ. Every time a little one comes to visit (usually kids of friends, sometimes lost tourists… don’t ask) it’s amazing how quickly they spot our colourful critter and begin playing with it. I mean you wouldn’t catch me playing with toys at the office…

There are three Annoying Monsters to choose from and the winner will be able to choose from Infuriating Igor, Pestering Percy and Borthersome Boris (subject to availability). Head over to the Facebook page now and enter your details for the chance to adopt an Annoying Monster.

Like it! Review and Competition: Floating Bottle Rope Illusion

Friday, November 11th, 2011

  Gadgets Like It!

Hello again Gadgeteers. It’s Friday and it’s time for another freebie. First of all a congratulations is in order to Michelle Williams who sneakily snatched herself a Crafty Cat Money Bank last week. Don’t get catty if you didn’t win though as we’ve got another awesome gadget to hand out starting right now. Go!

This week we’re looking to amaze and astound you with a magical gift that will leave your dinner guests guessing. Our incredible Floating Bottle Rope Illusion is available for you to win this week. Simply head over to our Facebook page and enter your details for the chance to win.

Floating Bottle Rope Illusion

Floating Bottle Rope Illusion

We were amazed to witness a bottle of cabernet sauvingon floating above the dinner table with just a bit of rope dangling from it. How does it work? It’s a mystery. Well okay… we reckon our blog readers are probably savvy enough to have some idea of how this illusion is created but it’s still an amazing centrepiece for your table and does look like a proper magic trick. In fact it’s probably the most magical thing we’ve seen since that crazy Dynamo character appeared on TV. Like all good magicians, he’s familiar with a few wine-based tricks too:

So if you’d like one of these floating bottle illusions to magically become yours, all you have to do is to visit our Facebook competition page and enter your details. The winner will be picked at random and announced right here on our blog next Friday!

Like it! Review and Competition: Crafty Cat Money Bank

 Gadgets Like It!

This competition is now closed. Thanks for entering!

A big thank you to everyone who entered our very first Gadgets Like It! competition last week and congratulations to our Epic first winner, Helen Rosbotham! Your prize will be on it’s way to you shortly!

On to this week and we’ve got another awesome gadget to give away. You’ll need to be a fan of our Facebook page to enter and then head to the competition tab and enter your details for the chance to steal away a Crafty Cat Money Bank!

Crafty Cat

Crafty Cat Money Box

This money box is so mesmerisingly cute that I reckon I must have lost at least a tenner to it already. The idea is to keep this ‘cardboard box’ lying around somewhere convenient at home so that when you find a loose coin in your pocket, you can place it on the cat’s plate and he’ll sneeeaakily pop out of his cardboard box and nab it. What is a cat going to do with 20p you might ask? Well that’s a very good question… I don’t know. But if there was any doubt that this cat is making a good living off us here at Gadget HQ, here’s cold hard video proof:

This item has a distinct Japanese-ness to it. Not least because of the kana on the side of the cardboard box. Cutesy Japanese stuff is called Kawaii and I think this falls into that category nicely. It reminds me a little of Maru, the Japanese Youtube sensation and his cardboard box antics.

So guess what… we like it! And you’re going to like it too when you win one over on our Facebook page. Just enter your details for the chance to win. Good luck! Or should that be ganbatte kudasai!

Like it! Review and Competition: Epic Stamps

Friday, October 28th, 2011

Like It!

This competition is now closed! Thanks for entering.

Introducing “Like It!” – the blog feature in which we more or less just get to play with the gadgets and gizmos we like best and show you what makes them so cool.

But you know what they say; if you love something, let it go. We’ll be letting go of one of each item that we review weekly as it will be up for grabs on our Facebook page. All you have to do is to ‘like’ our page (aha, see what we did there?) and go to the competition tab where you can enter your details for the chance to win. Every Friday we’ll announce the winner and we’ll have another top gadget to give away.

Speaking of winning: here’s the first item we’ve chosen for Like It! – a pair of Epic Win and Epic Fail stamps. How appropriate. Simply head over to the competition page and enter your details to be in with a chance of winning.

Epic Stamps

Win!

Here at Gadget HQ. we’ve been using the stamps to highlight office successes and disasters. Our most notable failure this week has been our attempt to carve some Halloween pumpkins. I had high hopes of carefully crafting our logo into the side of a large vegetable. Unfortunately as I began to cut into my pumpkin, it became clear that it had seen better days as I was knocked backwards off my chair by the most evil smell I’ve ever experienced. I disposed of my rotten vegetable. This may have been an epic fail but not more-so than Murray’s sorry looking pumpkin which he lovingly named Jerry. Pass me the stamp…

Pumpkin Fail

Fail!

So we may not be sculptors but at least we’re handsome… ahem. Well Murray clearly thinks his face is an epic win at any rate. We were thinking that these could definitely come in handy at parties… or maybe speed dating.

Murray Win

Win...?

What I’d really like to see is these in use in schools. How much cooler is your teacher going to be if they use modern internet slang to mark your work? That’s a hundred times better than the old smiley face. Contrary to what our behaviour may suggest, we all left school some time ago and so we don’t happen to have any old jotters around to test them out on. I did however get some of my painstakingly detailed artwork evaluated. Hmm.

Artfail

Epic Fail!

So we definitely like the epic stamps and if you’d like to get your hands on a set, all you have to do is to head over to Facebook now, click  the competition tab and enter your details for the chance to win. Good luck!
